Basic Curriculum Requirement Change

Core curriculum includes PE 200 Foundations of Physical Education for all PE majors.

PE 240 Foundations of Exercise Science  (3)

An introduction to the field of exercise science.  Exploration of career options, professional organizations, and certification programs within exercise science.  Includes a basic survey of exercise physiology, nutrition, health-related fitness, performance-related fitness, sports medicine, biomechanics, sports psychology, motor learning, and motor development is included. (for PE majors with Exercise Science emphasis)

Indicate in catalog that PE 200 is for teaching certification and Sport Management emphases. Add PE 240 Foundations of Exercise Science and indicate that it is for the Exercise Science emphasis only.

The current course, PE 200 Foundations of Physical Education, meets the introductory needs of PE teaching certification majors and those in the Sport Management emphasis.  However, it does not meet the needs of those students in the Exercise Science emphasis.  The proposed course will offer a basic overview of the career options and knowledge content necessary for the field of Exercise Science. None None. We have adequate personnel and facilities to cover the course under present faculty load constraints.

Add: Prerequisite EE 300 and junior standing.

Delete: concurrent courses and prerequisite.

The senior block has a total of 18 hours. Seniors are paying their additional tuition because their load is in excess of 16 hours.  Placing Methods of Teaching Language Arts in the Junior Block creates a total of 15 hours and reduces the Senior Block load to 15 hours. None None
